**Michael Esquibel Athletic Scholarship**

The Michael Esquibel Athletic Scholarship honors the legacy of Michael Alfred Esquibel — a passionate athlete, dedicated coach, and loyal friend whose life was defined by leadership, resilience, and teamwork.

This scholarship awards **$2,500** to support a student-athlete attending St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Up to **two scholarships** may be awarded each year, allowing us to help more students achieve their academic and athletic goals. Priority will be given to students whose families may not have the financial means to attend but who demonstrate academic commitment, athletic excellence, and strong character.

**Eligibility Requirements**

- Must be an incoming or current student at St. Michael’s High School.

- Must actively participate in school athletics (any VARSITY sport).

- Must maintain good academic standing. Most recent report card and previous semester grades must reflect a 3.0 GPA.

- Must submit an essay (500–750 words) on leadership, resilience, and teamwork.

- Must select one of Michael’s favorable quotes and explain what it means to you.

**How to Apply**

1. Complete the scholarship application form.

2. Submit your essay with your application.

3. Provide one letter of recommendation from a coach, teacher, or community leader.

**Selection Criteria**

Applications will be evaluated on:

- Academic achievement

- Athletic dedication

- Character and leadership qualities

- Financial need
